The life and work of Emil Rudolf Weiss, born 1875, the influential German poet, painter, illustrator, wood-engraver, graphic designer, and calligrapher, is presented in this admirably produced book by Incline Press, and printed in a limited edition of 250 numbered copies; this #24. Hardback book, size: 14" x 10", p.178, plus colophon, illustrated with many facsimiles tipped-in, mostly letterpress printed. A wide variety of archival papers have been used for the samples and tip-ins (mostly Zerkall and Hahnemule Bütten). Additionally there are photographic reproductions; includes double-page illustrations. Illustrations also include designs for complete bindings, paper over boards, dust-jackets, and working drawings alongside a photograph of the finished book. Hardback binding: plain grey boards, with a Weiss decoration on front cover, spine is bound in cream tyvek (a type of nylon) and the binding was by West Yorkshire bookbinder, Stephen Conway, who signs the colophon page. Book is contained in a plain grey board and black buckram-edged covered slipcase. Fine condition. An impressive book; recommended.
